My last Foundation course of 2021 — limited spots available, register by 23 September!
My interview with Yvonne is now available from IMAGE Journal, Issue #109, titled “A God Who Wails and Dances“! Our interview originated at the wonderful Pallet Café in Nairobi, Kenya and later on Zoom.
Our free, live Zoom event on 23 September 2021 at 3pm EDT will use our interview as a starting point, but we’ll go even deeper into the themes we explored there: why colonialism should be renamed ‘the age of atrocity’; why coffee is so much more than a commodity; why pluriversality is my new favourite word and much more!
Registration (free) but required here.
Hosted by Coffee Magazine, South Africa
Part of the “Conversations on Empowerment” series at the Halifax Central Public Library to celebrate Halifax Pride 2021. The series celebrates diversity and ways to grow in empathy and understanding.
If you have ever wanted to be an ally to someone from a marginalized community you are not a part of, and are unsure how you can help, this is the conversation for you. Jesse Nervais, founder of Dreadlocks & Kindness, is joined by Erika Koss, founder of A World in Your Cup, for a conversation on Allyship!
Rooted in the belief that it is the everyday kindnesses of ordinary people that lead to long term positive change in our communities, this talk focuses on the tangible elements of inclusion and social justice that empower the countering of discrimination in the world around us.
Socially distanced networking reception to follow.

Over the course of a three-month curriculum, the (un)learning club will provide a space where white coffee professionals can work “to learn and unlearn the ways in which racism, colonialism and white supremacy have impacted the coffee industry and the people in it.” My talk on Colonialism and its historical roots will include Namisha Parthasarathy, co-founder of Ārāmse Coffee in India.
With the September 1st start date, the (un)learning club will only be accepting members until August 28th. Learn more on the IG account of the founder of the club, Diana Mnatsakanyan-Sapp here . If you wish to join, write to her!
To enroll, write to us through the Contact form or register on the SCA education site.
